Traditional Irish Bread-making in my Thatched Barn on the shores of beautiful Strangford Lough.
Bread making in a group

Upon arrival you will be offered a warm Irish welcome by me! We will start with a cup of coffee or tea and some homemade sweet treats.

Then we get started – aprons on and let’s get baking!

We start our session with a traditional Irish Fruit Soda Cake. This is a sweet treat and delicious with lots of homemade Irish butter.

While the Fruit Soda Cake is baking in the stove oven, we will make some potato bread or fadge as we call it. We will add fillings of your choice to the potato mix – scallions or cheese. We will also make Soda Bread – my favourite! We have various alternatives for the Soda Bread – which you may or not add as you please – treacle, currants and sultanas or cinnamon.

Tray-bakes are a typical sweet treat from Northern Ireland – they come from this area. We will make a delicious Traybake which will be delicious served with a nice strong coffee or cup of our local brew!

After you have kneaded, rolled mixed and baked the breads and tray-bakes, then comes the fun part! We will have a tasting session and another tea / coffee – with our award winning handmade butter, homemade jam, and dulse butter. This will be a feast Irish style!

You will take home a bag filled with your handmade products and all of the recipes that we made here in my house.

I hope that you will have a memorable experience. I look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful part of County Down and the Ards Peninsula.

Cost: £45 – to include all food consumed and and a bag of delicious breads to take home and impress everyone. I will also give you a copy of all recipes used in the class.
